On Sunday morning May 1st, the SigEp IL-eta chapter got a group of brothers together to volunteer their time at the Walk MS event that took place on our very own campus, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
The amazing group of brothers were told by Alumni, Tracey Cooley that the coordinator said that the guys unloaded and setup so fast that they were forty-five minutes ahead of the planned time. All of the men who were able to come and help said they really enjoyed coming out and helping the community in anyway they could. SigEp appreciates the great hospitality that the very generous people provided as well. They provided us with coffee, water, a variety of pastries and snacks.
The Walk MS event raised over $4,000 for the MS society. For those who do not know what MS or “Multiple Sclerosis” is, it’s a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, Spinal cord and optic nerves. It is thought to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the CNS. (nationalmssociety.org).
