Last month we held our 16th annual Balanced Man Scholarship Golf Tournament. The purpose of this annual tournament is to connect active members with alumni as well as to raise money for our scholarship funds. This money is split between funding both our Balanced Man Scholarship and our Arete Awards.
The Balanced Man Scholarship is meant to awards three incoming freshman to SIUE that we believe embody the ideals of a balanced man each with a $500 scholarship. The Arete Awards are a local tradition here at Illinois Eta to recognize the top performing active member in each grade with a $1000 dollar scholarship.

Despite the ongoing challenge of facing coronavirus, both the alumni attendance and total amount raised were improved from last year’s tournament, and plans for further improvement are already in the works.
This success wouldn’t be possible without the hole sponsorships by local businesses Holmes Insurance, Foundry, Edwardsville Bank, NOTS Logistics, Bloomers Landscaping, Springfield Bank, and sponsorships from individual alumni. I would also like to give a special thanks to alumni Nick Osland and Drew Aldridge for their continued work behind the scenes to plan and organize these annual tournaments.
Despite a valiant effort by the undergraduate team, alumni Ethan Sisk and Trevor Morgan lead their team to victory and bragging rights over all of their brothers. We can’t wait to see everyone again next fall!
